STARVATION ON ISLAND
err Orp BY ICE JAMS ST. JOHN’S, June 22.—Twentytwo people out of a population of 150 have died of starvation on Spotted Island (off the Labrador coast), where they have been cut off for months. The 150. fishermen, trappers and their families, went to the island at the beginning of the winter. Jams of ice prevented .them from reaching the coast to obtain food supplies.
