.Mrs A. N. Davies left this morning on a brief visit to Wellington. ******* Mi' and Mrs S. D. Abbot, Mr arid Airs J. T. Clark and Aiks E. A. Hendry, who were passengers on the s.s. Mannganui on an island cruise, extending over three weeks, have returned toi Opotiki. * * • * * * * * After an extensive . holiday spent in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, Airs V. E. Wilson has returned to her home at Wa iota hi. ******* Mr and Airs H. L. Alanning, of Hamilton!, are spending a holiday in Opotiki. * * * * * * A feature of the valedictory evening tendered to Mr' and Airs A. H. Hilford by members of the Opotiki 'Choral Society, was the pianoforte selections played by Mrs Hilfocd, as past accompanist of the society, and further selections by Airs D. AY. Aukl, the society’s newlv-appointcd accompanist. Doth soloists were encored. Violin solos, played by .Dr H. J. Alai], were also greatly appreciated.
WAIMIANA news NATIONAL PjAJLiTY DANCE A most successful dance was organised Uy the Waimana ladies' committee of the National Party, in the AVuiniana Hall on July 26. fnfortumiteJy Air Sullivan. National Party candidate, was unable to attend owing to ins being detained in A\ eilington on party business. Air 11-yde, cn behalf of Air Sullivan, congratulated the laities on their effort and also thanked them for their work in organising many other 1 unctions. '1 he official party, consisting of Airs Sullivan, Airs v'. Wilson, Waiotahi, Airs L. Sisam, AY.hakatanc, Air and Airs Hyde, AYliakatanc, was met by Airs Savage, president, and members of the ladies committee, and presented with a bouquet by Aiks J. -Mitchell.
