OPQTIKI-CISEORNE ROUTE WATER OVER BRIDGE Heavy rain was . experienced in Gisborne during tbe. beginning of tin> week and did not stop until yesterday morning, by which time the main routes from Gisborne were again showing signs of wear and slipping on account of'the excessive moisture. There was a slip in the Waioeka Valley on Monday night and the OpotikiGisbcrne highway was still blocked ■yesterday at noon by the floodwaters over the low-level bridge on the Qpotiki side of To Karaka. The over-night, mail service lorries were held 1 up in the Waioeka Valley, the blockage not being cleared until yesterday morning. The outgoing lorry was delayed at Puli a, the water in the creek having backed up and risen over the handrails on the bi'idgc. The waters subsided in the afternoon and traffic was again resumed.
