Rathie, of Onehunga has joined the Opotiki Police Force and is relieving Constable •Cooper. **** * x x Air A. B. Mackie, formerly, of Opotiki, who had been secretary from 1923-33, and president from 1933-34, of the Paritutu Bowling Club, New Plymouth, was elected a life member fit the club’s annual meeting recently. Reference was made by several speakers to the manner in which Mr Mackie had worked for and helped the club. Owing to ill-health Mr Mackie is no longer an active member.
DANCE AT WAIOTAHI A bright and successful dance, organised by the members of the Anglican Church resident at AVaiotahi and the surrounding district, was held in the Waiotahi Hall on Friday night. There was a good attendance and a happy time was spent. A popular programme of music was supplied by the Kit Kat Band, the duties of M.C. being in the capable hands of Mr L. V. Looney. A novelty dance was won by Miss J3J. Sinton and Mr E. Salt and Mrs L. V. Looney was the winner of a competition. A delicious supper was served by the ladies.

CONCERT AT OMARUMUTU SCHOOL FUNDS BFIXEFIT A school concert and dance was recently held in the Omarumutu Hall to raise funds for the. Omarumutu Native School. Members of the Omarumutu Women’s Institute, the school staff. a nd all parents co-operat-ed in making -the function a highly successful one,;
The' concert portion, of the programme was comprised of combined singing by the senior and junior pupils and ajso plays enacted by them which caused, many hearty laughs. Maori action songs, pois etc., contributed by the senior girls, were well received, and a spirited rendering, of tile baka completed the programme.
The supper arrangements were carried out by tin- members of the Women’s Institute, who were assisted most generously by the mothers’ ol the children. Dancing and other items followed and a, most enjoyable eveniji which benefitted the school funds considerably, was brought to a close with the National Anthem.
