1 1 AN-PA OI FI 0 CIO NF Jill Ji N C E Miss Elsie Andrews, chairman of the New Zealand Committee of the PanPacitic Women’s Association, deliverer! a public address in the Parish Hall last night. There was a fair, attendance, although all women’s organisation’s in the district represented. Airs Woolfield, president of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s Institutes, occupied the chair. Mrs Woolfield extended a hearty welcome to Miss ’.Andrews and presented her with a charming bou-quet-from representatives of the various women’s organisations in the district. Miss Andrews proved herself a very able speaker, her address being thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Her subject was the PanPacific Conference held last year in Canada. -Miss Andrews was chosen as one of six outstanding speakers for a broadcasting debate. The conference will be held in Wellington in 1940 and one of the objects of . Aliss Andrews’ toiir was to form reception committees in each centre who Avon Id entertain A'isitors from oAersea.s avluvu visiting Now Zealand. Mrs A. P. Stuart was choson as the convenor, and nominations Avill be called' from the various Avomen’s organisations, the W.0.T.'11.. the W.D.F.U. and the Women’s Institutes.
.Mrs J. J). Fisher proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker. Seconded by AH’s Hampton and carried bv acclamation.
