TWICE IN CRASHES

BULAWAYO BRIDE -FINISHED WITH TRAINS April 19.—A pretty, vivacious Bulawayo gill, Rena Burger, lias made two attempts in the last fortnight to reach Alontague, Gape Province, to make final arrangements for her wedding. Twice she has been trapped in x-ailway disasters.

The first was made at PJunitree, Rhodesia, on April 4. 'The second at Bonk, Transvaal, on Saturday.

On both occasions she escaped with only, slight injuries, but she is now so frightened of trains that she has decided to go by, car when she is able to travel.

After the Plumtreo escape Miss Burger returned to Bulawayo, where she is a hairdresser and beauty specialist, and then went on to Johannesburg to recover from the shock.

Soon after joining the train for Alontague on Saturday she was asked if she would move to another com-

partment to, give more room to a* woman with an injured leg. Reluctantly she moved to a coach nearer the engine. She said, ‘,‘l had a. funny feeling, but 1 told myself it couldn’t happen twice. Actually it did happen, twice. “The crash came within a lew minutes of my move to the new compartment. “An elderly woman and 1 were trapped in the overturned coach tearing that it would catch fire at any moment. “At last we were rescued. Now I have finished with railways.”
