There was a good- attendance at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union when the subject of International Peace was discussed. It was pointed out that the only foundation of permanent peace was a League of Nations built up on international co-operation. Mrs Hampton gave extracts from Stanley Jones’ book re war and its causes, and Mrs Gordon read how gladiatorial fighting in Rome ceased through bravery of a simple monk who gave his life Trying to separate the combatThompson read expressions, of the peace of everyday life. Rand of Hope meetings were discussed and it was decided to hold the first one early in June. A letter was read from the secretary of the Girl Guide committee re. main. A spi nated.
