TO-NIGHT’S RESULTS
THE HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION Wednesday Carried The local body elections took place • to-clay, weather conditions being ideal for electors to record their votes. With a. good number of positions already filled through candidates being elected without opposition, interest in the result did not appear to be very great and there was none of the excitement that characterised the previous local body elections. Tlxerei was a goodl deal of speculation during the day as t° the outcome of the half-holiday poll and opinions appeared to be evenly divided. In .the borough, electors only had two issues placed before them, the Mayor, members of the Hospital Board and the Power Board representative already having been declared elected. Chief interest in the 'county elections centred around the election of Power Board members. A poll was taken in only two ridings for riding representation. A further representative is required for the Hospital Board, one short of the required number being nominated. The results of to-day’s polling, with those representatives already elected, are as follows : -
