Road Paving Costs. .An interesting, experiment in road paving is being carried out in the Gisborne borough and the cost of road paving under this new system known as plant mix is nearly half of the old method. The engineer reported that the average cost- per square yard, including a scaling coat, was 2s 4-Jd, compared with 4s per square yard for hot mix sla!) work as carried out in the past. The quality of the completed qdant mix road is, in the engineer’s opinion, equal to. and, from a point of roughness, superior to the hand laid plant mix work that tile council has placed for some time. Gisborne Electorate. j I/fc now appears that the Gisborne seat will be contested by lour aspirants to the honour of representa- j tive of that district. A member of the police force, Mr C. Lysnar, who formerly represented the district for* 12i> years, also has indicated his : in-; t&ntion of standing as an independentvVlt is already certain that Mr I>. W. Coleman, M.P., will be nominated by the Labour Representation Committee to defend the seat on behalf of the Labour Government. T V
