BUCKJUMPING TEAM

SYDNEY APPRECIATION “EVELTY SATISFACTION” ' *• - . ,0? - A letter has reached' the EyArty Bay A. and P. Association fIWX the Sydney Iloyal Agricultural Society regarding the New Zealand team of rough riders .which competed, at the recent Sydney Show.

“Once again,” the Sj’dney secretary wrote, “I would like to thank you for your co-operation in making possible the visit of this New Zealand team. I would also like to add that they gave every satisfaction to the officials of this society and behaved themselves well.”

When this letter -was read at the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association held recently, members expressed -pleasure at Die way in which the team had acquitted itself, and it was hoped that on their return those in the team would be able to help the association with suggestions regarding the forthcoming rodeo, at which the team would be an undoubted attraction.

The patron, of the association, Mr H. G. Tucker, who' visited the Sydney Royal Show and who recently returned, told a P.B. Herald reporter after the meeting that the New Zealanders performed very well indeed, but. they seemed to be unfortunate in striking animals that were particularly active. The Australians knew the quality of * their mounts, and in the selection of horses avoided any that were known to be troublesome, such as one which pivoted so wildly that even the Canadians and United States men could not seat them.<• The steers, too, wore of a different type from those in Gisborne, and were so wild and wiry that they presented a problem even to the most expert.
