Shipping. ' "Diving to the heavy easterly weather .-which prevails, the ra.s. Waiotahi has l>een detained at Auckland since Monday. It is expected that she will leave .Auckland to-morrow arriving at Opotiki on Saturday morning. Thei Weather. The following weather forecast for the 24. hours commencing at 9 a an. to-day was issued by -the meteorological office :—The indications, are for easterly winds moderate to strong, gale force in places. Weather cloudy to overcast with intermittent rain probable, with some heavy falls. Barometer falling. Seas rough to high. Lower Temperatures. The lowest temperature recorded in Opotiki for the first four months of the year was 52 degrees. Since the first of the month there has been a decided drop in temperatures, both day and night. On the first of. May the minimum reading was 47 degrees. Heslth District. For tlie week ended at noon yesterday four cases of notifiable disease, two of diphtheria and one each of dysentery and typhoid fever, were reported in the East Cape health district. One death was reported from pulmonary tuberculosis.
