fortnichtly pig sale ' ■ •' 1 . • ’ GOOD AVERAGE YARDING * ' . Messrs Dalgety and 00. Ltd', report having held their fortnightly pig sale at the Opotiki saleyards on the 2nd instant when a good average yarding came forward and a representative attendance of buyers l was present. r .

Baconers sold up to late rates but porkers and store pigs showed at slight decline. However the whole of , the yarding was sold under the hammer.

We quote the following prices which were realised at the sale:—

Heavy bacon to £3 18s, lighter £3 12s- t o i £3 15s, a line of 28 on account of S. M*. Jephson Esq. realising £3 15s; others £'3 3s to £3 10s-; heavy pork to £2 13s, lighter £2 5s to £2 9’s, inferior £1 18s to- £2 3s; store pigs, good sorts, to £1 13s, smaller 28s to 31s; slips 18s; weaners, 6s to 10s Od. Several pedigree boars were entered by Mr S. M. Jephson and the highest price realised -waS 51 guineas.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy. Ltd. report as follows :

■We had a full yarding of pigs in. all .classes and competition was good throughout. Heavy baconers were scarce, lighter sorts being easier in value. Slips and weaners show an advance on late rates. Prices realised were: —

Heavy baconers £2 12s to £3 16s; lighter. £3 3s to £3 10s; light bacon, £2 16«si to £3 Is; heavy porkers, £2 5s to £2 12s; lighter, ’33s to £2; light pork, 2’4s to 295; slips, good sorts, to 18s 3d; others, 13s 9d to 15s; weaners, 6s to Bs. Choppers, poor demand, 30s to 38s; pedigree Devon boars, £3 3s to £s i ss.
