HOSPITAL BOARD

SPECIAL MEETING ESTIMATES CONSIDERED A special meeting of' the Opotiki Hospital Board was held on, AVednesday evening to consider the estimates for the ensuing year. The secretary, Air J. T. Merry, submitted a statement .of estimated receipts and expenditure for the year, and also a statement of receipts and expenditure for the year just closed. Through increases in salary aiid general increases in all hospital requirements, the Boardi’s estimate for the previous year has been exceeded by approximately £6OO, and it was necessary to allow for making up this leeway iii addition to providing for the requirements -during the current year. After careful consideration t-lie Board decided to adept the estimates as presented, which provides for levies on. local authorities of £2248 and Government subsidies of £2182 for maintenance expenditure. On the capital side levies of £ll6 will be made and an additional sum of £ll6 will be provided by the Department. The levy this year show's an increase of £544 against last year. It was decided to strike a maintenance levy of .287 d for maintenance expenditure and .015 for capital expenditure. HOSPITAL FARM PROFIT SHOWN At the special meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board .on "Wednesday night, the secretary presented.a comprehensive statement showing the activities of the hospital farm for the year just closed. The statement showed a credit balance of approximately £36 which the Board considered very satisfactory. In goods supplied to the hospital, including milk, cream, vegetables etc., the value # estimated was shown as £132. Bacon produced was valued at £39 12s 3d, the total production under these two headings being £172. Cream supplied to the Opotiki dairy factory was valued at £99 15s 4d.
