OPOTIKI ANNUAL MEETING LOSS ON YEAR’S WORKING The annual meeting of the Opotiki Hunt Club was heid in the R.S.A. room last night, the retiring president, .Mr. N. V. Hodgson, presiding over a fair attendance. The .minutes of the previous annual meeting arid an extraordinary general meeting held on oth. May last, were read by the secretary, Mr P .T'ox, and confirmed. The president’s annual report and the balance-sheet were then read by trie secretary. The balance-sheet showed receipts totalling £892 13s Bd. The credit baln.ee in the P. 0.5.8. stands at £550. The receipts included a large sum received, from the Opotiki Jockey Club. In reply t 0 a question the president said .the , decrease in membership was. '3O unfinancial members. The loss .on the year’s working was approximately £7O. Messrs Maxwell and Snell referred to the annual dance, the latter considering the expenses to be very excessive. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Election of Officers. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: Patron, Mr J. H. Reid. President, Mr Scott Abbot. Mr N. V. Hodgson declined nomination and considered that the posit-on should go around. Vice-president, Mr S. Maxwell. Master, Mr C. T. Clark. Deputy-masters, Messrs M. 13. Abbot, J. Bird and R. Red ley.. Committee: Messrs. A. Neilson, J. T. Clark, L. Abbot, M. B. Abbot. It. Looney, 13. Hughes, L, Weston, Burnside, F. J. Short, J. T. Tabb, C. Black, P. Looney, B. Mu I hern, N. V. Hodgson, T. Clark, C. Smith. M'r. R. Hedley, on behalf of the members of the late Opotiki Jockey Club, thanked members for electing two members of the old Jockey Club on the committee. Field secretary, Mr Ivan Rusden. Hon. surgeons, Drs A. J. Brass and H. Mail. Farriers, Messrs B. Parkinson and C. Booth. Hon. auditor. Mr W. Smith. Subscriptions A lengthy discussion took place over the question of members’ subscriptions and there were numerous amendments proposed. Finally; Mr C. Black suggested that each amount be taken separately and this was agreed to. Mr R. Hedley moved that the men’s subscription be 355. Seconded by Mr J. Kelly and carried. •After several proposals had been put forward, a motion was carried fixing the ladies’ fee at 10s Oil. It "was decided to increase the fee for all youths between the ages of 1.0 and: 18 years to £l. The subscription for those under 16 was fixed at ss. Honorary members’ subscriptions were fixed as last year —10s 6d. Badges.—lt was decided to. have white badges for the season. Donation.—Mr Hodgson referred to the use of the A. and P. Association’s hurdles, seats etc. during the last two or three years and. said a, certain amount of damage had been done. He moved that £lO be paid to the Association. There was nu. seconder. It vas then moved bv Mr .Maxwell, seconded by M'r Clark, that £5 be paid. The motion was carried. —Mr. R. Looney, on behalf of the Association, thanked members of the Hunt Club for their contribution. Opening Day. —The question ol the opening day was left in the bands ol the incoming committee. Property Owners’ representative.— Mr Hodgson suggested that the club appoint a property owners’ representative to the committee.—Mr F. Reid was elected to the posit-on. \ Telephone.--Mr Maxwell suggested that the huntsman, should he connected to the telephone service and pointed out tj.ie disabilities at present sutfered by members. Other speakers supported Mr Maxwell and it was decided to defer decison until further inquiries had been made. Point-to-Point Meeting.—Mr C. 1. Clark suggested it would be a good idea to hold! a point-to-point meeting at the close of the season. —Lett in the hands of the incoming meeting. Tlumks. —Mr C. T. Clark moved that the services rendered to the. club by the retiring president l>e placed on record. Carried by acclamation. Mr Hodgson returned thanks.
