POLITICAL ADDRESS

ON MONDAY NEXT Mr. A. G. Osborne 1 . ALP. for Mamikon, will address a public meeting in the Parish Hall on .Monday evening next at 8 o’clock. J lie -Mayor, Mr. G. 8. Moody. will preside, and Mr -V. U. Hultqnist, AI.P. for the Bay of .Plenty will accompany Air Osborne. Ihe subject of Air Osborne’s address will be- “The Achievements of the Government”. and special reference will also be made, to the Government’s proposals in regard to national superannuation and health insurance and sickness benefits. The meeting is in support of Mr Hultquist’s candidature lor the electorate at the forthcoming elections. Special interest will* attach to the meeting in view of the fact that Air Osborne defeated Air Doidge in the Alanukau by-election by over 4000 votes when Air AY. J. Jordon was appointed New Zealand High Commissioner in England. Another point of interest is the fact that Air Osborne is Air Hultqnist s bench-mate in. the House of Representatives. This arose out of the fact that Air Hultqnist and A!r Osborne have been close friends for a numbi-i of years and were closely associated with each other in the Labour movement in Auckland several years ago. Jn those days Air Osborne and Air Hultqnist entered into an agreement that if ever they were in the House together as members, they would f>° bench-mates, and. on the first day All Osborne took his seat, that ariangement was, with the assistance of other members who changed ■ seats to make it possible, kept ju full. Air. Osborne, who will arrive in Opotiki on Alondav evening with Air Hultqnist will leave for AVhakatane again after the meeting and will he the guest of Air and Airs Hultquisfc fer two nights.
