Raukokcre Bridge, Slow progress is still being made in the construction of the Raukokore river bridge and it will be a considerable time before the structufevjs completed, ;H., Waiotahi Dance. 1 A dance will be held by the Upotiki Young Farmers’ Club in the Waiotahi Hall on April 6. At the annual meeting of the Matawai branch of the .Labour Party, the president, Mr. 11. B. Baird, stated that the branch, winch was started in August with 10 members, had increased to 130. The sale will be held on 12th. April. Opening of Coif Season. The Opotiki Golf Club will officially open the golf season on Saturday (tomorrow). The links will be declared open at 1.30 p.m. \A mixed foursome will be played during the afternoon. The ladies’ opening day will he on Wednesday next, April 6. Two rounds will be played, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Parking Device. Something of interest to all motor car owners was seen in Dunedin recently at a. demonstration of a safe-ty-parking device, an invention of 31 r J. Hicks. Mosgiel. The device is claimed to be one that will baffle even the cleverest motor thief, and to prevent would-be thieves from operating. New Cemetery. Work is now well in hand in preparing the new cemetery section on the main highway on the opposite side of the creek to the present cemetery. Owing to the large number of deaths in Opotiki during the past few months tin- old cemetery has practically no vacant plots. Only a portion of the area available at the new cemetery is being prepared at present, to keep down maintenance costs. Kereu Bridge Repaired. The spans of the Keren Over bridge which were washed away by, Hoods some time ago, have now been replaced by the contractor of the Ban kokore bridge. 'The bridge has been m use for some days, and lias done away with considerable inconvenience to users of tlu- coast road. The new ropc-wav has also been installed at the crossing to enable cream supplies to be sent to the To Ka.'m factory in the event of flood again damaging the low-level bridge before the permanent structure is completed. Maori War Skeleton. The skeleton of an old man, with the ' skull smashed in was found on Tuesday afternoon at AYainui beach 1)v a gang of men engaged in. clearing and levelling a portion of the ground to the south of 31'iss A. Irons’ residence, near the Olcitn Creek, states the -Gisborne Herald. Cases have been reported before of human remains having been unearthed at Wainui, but interest has been aroused in this instance! by the fact that the skeleton is complete and the condition of the bones indicate that the man died from wpr injuries perhaps 100 years ago.

The vessel is scheduled toi leave at 6.30 a.m. tomorrow. Funeral. The funeral of the late Mr Romeo 31'oore which was held at WAiawa yesterday, was largely attended by waterside workers from Opotiki. i .
