ANNUAL MEETIIIC . ' CLUB IN GOOD POSITION ~ The annual meeting of the Buy of Plenty Sheep Dog Trial Club was held in the R.S.A. room on Saturday night, when there was a good attendance of supporters*. (At the commencement- of the- meeting the members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr. H. Lariner, Airs. F. Be id (late wife of the club’s judge and vice-president), and the late Airs T. Hitchens. Trials.—The trials were fixed to be held on April 27, 23 and 29. Dance. It was decided to again hoifl a dance on the concluding night of the trials. Life Alembers. —In proposing Alessrs AV.-CL Butler and; C. T. Clark as life members of the club. Air Carey spoke highly of the many years of good service done by both members almost from tlie club’s inception.—Carried unanimously. Judge. Air. A. Gordon -proposed that Air W. G. Butler’s name be submitted to the North. Island Sheep Dog Trial Association to be put on the judges’ list.—Carried. Thanks. —A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to Aliss Butler who made wreaths on India if of tlie club. Gordon, on behalf of Alessrs Gordon Bros., then asked the club to accept a shepherd’s crook, to become the dub's property and to be held each year bv the best novice. .1 lie chairman thanked Alessrs Gordon Bros, tor their gill and said he was sure itworn Id become every novices ambition to hold the crook for a year. The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks "to the chair. THE ANNUAL REPORT The following report was submitted by the president. Air V. G. Butler:— 1 have pleasure in submitting the annual report for the past season. The annual trials were held on Alessrs Reid Bros property on April. 27. 28 and 29. 1937. The weather was fine and there was a large number of entries. The events were run off in good time and keen competition was evidenced throughout- the trials. There was a good number of competitors from outside very pleasing. Alessrs Reid Bros, for the use of their property for the trials and also for tlie loan of the sheep. We also wish tothank the ladies who- did the catering and for their time given on the trial days. We are also; indebted to' the A. and P. Association for the use of the hurdles and other gear. ■Everything in connection with tlie trials went off.in good tinu: and in a good spirit. Re Finance: As disclosed by the balance sheet, our finances are sound, and the club is on a good footing. The membership is very satisfactory. I wish to thank the members of the committee for their very valuable assistance -during my term of office. It has been a pleasure to work with them, and we have been, quite a happy family, with the interests of the club at heart. 1 trust that the same good spirit will he available for my successor. We regret- the passing away of one of the officials in the person of Air.Harry Larmer, cur timekeeper. He had acted in that capacity for many years and we shall find it hard to replace him. 1 also regret- to report the death of the wife of our esteemed, judge and vice-president Air. F. Reid; also the death of All's T. Hitchens who for many years generously supported cur club.
