AUTUMN FAIR VERY HEAVY YARDING The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on the autumn cattle fair held at the Opotiki saleyafds on 'Wednesday : We had a very large yarding of station cattle including the annual drafts from Ainokura, Tunapahore,. Maraehako and Whitdare Stations. Entry comprised a large number of good quality Polled Angus and Hereford steers and these met with good competition though prices realised were not as good as expected. Female cattle were not wanted and show a distinct decline on late rates. Our principal sales were: Ai/c A. E. Blake. 44 18-month Hereford steers,. £5; 26 18-month P.,A- steers £si 8s; 26 18-month P.A. steeys £6 Ts; 20 fat and forward cows, Herefords and Polls, £6. Account Aniolcura Station: 16 fat bullocks. £9; 26 18-month P. A. steers, £5 10s. Account D. A. Kerr, ' Tunapahore, 25 Hereford steers, £7 15s. Prices realised were: — Male Cattle. —18-month P.A. steers, £5 to £6 Is; 18-month Hereford steers, £5 to £5 10s; 24-year steers, P.A. to £7 15s; 24-year steers, Hereford, to £7 ss; 34-year bullocks, fat to £S 12s; 34-year Hereford bullocks to £9 ; heavy bulls, to £6; lighter sorts to £4 2s Gd. Ltd. report as follows : A heavy yarding of station cattle came forward, being in excess of the advertised numbers. There was a large and representative attendance of local buyers, although very little outside representation was in evidence. The majority of the yarding comprised fat cows and young steers. Competition was keen throughout with practically a total clearance under the hammer at prices on a par with outside realisations. Quotations : Fat cows, prime heavy, £7 to £8 18s; fat cows, - medium weights, £5 to £5 10s; light, £4 to £4 15s; fat heifers, £5 to £6; forward condition bullocks, £10; ’34-year steers, £7 15s to £8; 24-year steers,. £6 10s to £7; 18-month steers, £5 to £5 I.os ; 18-month heifers, £4 to £4. 10s; 24-year Jersey steers, £0; 18month Jersey steers, £3 10s; medium sorts, £3 to £3 10s; Hereford cows and calves, £4 15s to £0 15s; run cows, £5 to £5 10s.
