Beasley has received notice of his transfer to Tokomam Bay, where he will take charge of the station. Constable \V. H. R°& _ ors, of Eltliam, will replace Constable Beasley. Considerable regret will be felt at the departure of Constable Beasley, who has been one of the most -popular members .of the police force ever stationed in Opotiki. W AIM AN A FUNCTIONS VALEDICTORY TO MR- AND MRS H. A-YDEiLrON I Air and Mrs H. Anderson wlio are leaving Nnknhou North in the near future have been the guests ot honour at farewell Junctions arranged by taeir friends during the past week. A pleasant ‘ afternoon was recently held at the residence of Mrs Jerram when many Irieuds gathered to liid farewell to Airs Anderson, two competitions which were popular items of tile function, were won by Airs Davies ‘and Afrs Burnett respectively. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostess after which. Airs W ooliiold, oil behalf of all present, presented Airs Anderson with two hooks, la wishing Airs Anderson every happiness and good luck in her now sphere, Air* Wool field said hew very much the guest of honour would he missed at the various social gatherings. , ALrs Davies, as a neighbour of Alts Anderson’s also expressed regret at the impending departure of the guest of honour. Airs. Anderson suitably replied, thanking those present ior the gift of books, which would ever serve to remind her oi her many true and sincere friends of the district. Mrs Davies led the gathering in singing “For She’s a Jojly Good fellow”. **** * * * Mr and Airs H. Anderson were the guests of honour at a social evening held in the Waimanu Hail on Monday night, when a very large attendance of friends of the surrounding district took the opportunity of bidding farewell to the guests t r honour. The evening was spent- in dancing to music supplied by Airs King. A dainty supper was served. alter which. Air Wooifield, on behalf ot those' present called upon Air and Airs Anderson to accept a handsome cheque, presented to them by their many friends as a token of their esteem and affection. Air Wooifield spoke of how keenly all would feel the Joss of Air and Airs Anderson from their midst especially mentioning Mrs Anderson’s activities in sport- and matters social. He concluded by wishing them success and happiness in their new home. Mr Anderson responded and expressed his sincere thanks for the* handsome gift and the genuine expressions of regret wl'ic-h had been voiced of their- impending departure. Jjy their many friends.
