Roberts, of the Apia Hospital, Western Samoa, who has been holidaying in Whakatane. recently paid a brief visit to Mrs V. E. Wilson. Waiotalii. Miss Roberts has now returned to Auckland. It is understood that other members of the Opotiki Surf Life Saving Club will be examined for the modal 1 ion in the near future. SURPRISE PARTY MIL AND -MRS. CL LA MO NT Several friends of Ah’ and Airs CL Lament wlio are leaving the district, surprised them with a visit at their home, Otara, on Friday night. A happy evening was spent with games and dancing, music being supplied by Air J. MacDonald. Progressive 500 was also played, the winners being Airs J. Kerr and Air (A. J. Curtis, while -consolation prizes were presented to Mrs A. E. -Martin and Alt's S. -Maxwell. A monte carlo dance was won by -Miss AI. Lowe and partner. A delicious supper was served, alter which. Ai'r A. FJ. -Martin, on behalf of those present, called upon the guests of honour to accept, as a token of the esteem in which they are held h\t all present, a set of cutlery. AD Martin expressed regret at Mr and Airs Lament's impending . departure from the midst of their many friends in Opotiki and wished them every success and happiness in their new home in Auckland. -Mr Lamont responded.
