GISBORNE TESTS NEXT . WEEK .'According to advice received from Gisborne, entries for the special horsemanship tests organised by the Poverty Bay A. andt P- Association, cn behalf of the Australian Royal Slioav Association, have come in Avell during the last few days, and the tests Avill now be held. The difficulty now is to obtain sufficient horses, and an effort is being- made by the association to contact likely sources of supply. . Tlie tests are to start early next Tuesday afternoon, and the quality of tlie riders will be assessed by a member of the Australian association, Air Thomas B. Alaefarlane. Avith a. A’iew to selecting a team of New Zealanders to compete at tlie next Royal Slioav in Sydney. Al]r Alaefarlane. aalio is now resident in Neiv South AA ales, formerly lived in PoA’erty. Bay, and has been keenly interested’ in the possibility of matching horsemen and steer-riders from New Zealand with the professionals from Canada, the United States, and Australia. Air Alaefarlane contends that New Zealand riders and stockmen could quickly attain international standard. From next week’s tests, however, it should be possible to gauge whether the: project is Avorth-Avhile.
