Possibly the most pleased man in the district yesterday evening was Mr b. J. Laughlin when the result of the poll on the Netherton bridge loan proposal was made known. For a long time past Mr Laughlin has been enthusiastic in his endeavours to have a bridge erected over the Waihou River, and it is in a large measure due to his efforts that the proposal for a loan was submitted to the ratepayers. Not only that, but all day yesterday he was busy bringing voters to the poll, some of whom might not otherwise have troubled to register their votes. Mr Laughlin has his reward in knowing that the ratepayers have by a large majority approved of the loan proposal. ,
