PAEROA RUGBY UNION.
At the usual weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union, on Wednesday evening Mr H. Bush presided, and the other members present were Messrs Menzies, Evitt, Vuglar, Reid, and Walmsley (honorary secretary).
Arrangements were made for the East v. West senior match on Saturday, Mr C. Mettam being appointed referee. It was decided to instruct the referee to
commence the match at a-quarter past three sharp. It was also decided to request the referee to stop the game when any of the spectators encroach on the field ot play.
Owing to the ferry at the Puke not being available on Saturday, the junior match between East and Netherton was postponed to June 3rd, when it will be played at Netherton.
An invitation was received from the Hamilton Union for a rep. team to be sent to play at Hamilton on June ioth. It was decided to accept the invitation provided the Hamilton Union donates £2 10s towards the travelling team's expenses. Several new players were registered and were allotted to the various clubs. A Nethe*ton player was reported for rough play in the senior match last Saturday. After hearing the explanation of the player, who was present at the meeting, it was decided that he be cautioned. It was decided to try and arrange the match between West and Netherton, to be played at Netherton, for June 22nd (Coronation Day).
A match between Paeroa and Waihi schoolboys played at Paeroa on Wedday afternoon resulted in an easy win for the Paeroa team by 20 points to nil.
Steps are being taken to form a Referees' Association at Te Aroha.
