ISLAND HURRICANE.

NEW HEBRIDES DEVAST-

ATED.

[By Electric Telegraph.]

Sydney, May 25

Particulars of the recent hurricane in the New Hebrides, when ten vessels went ashore and two whites and six

natives were drowned, show that the

eflects were more devastating than was

at first reported The storm was general throughout the group. Houses were unroofed and blown down at Aneityum and Tanna, and it is supposed that several recruiting vessels besides the ten reported were blown ashore. The steamer Malaita had a trying experience and lost her deck cargo and fittings.
