MURDER CONFESSION.

A REMARKABLE AFFAIR

A remarkable murder confession was made at Retford, Notts, recently. A stranger walked into the local police office, and remarked tc the superintendent " I wish to give myself up for the murder of Mary Taylor, .aged 15, near the slaughterhouse at Berkenhead, close

to the landing stage, on December 15, 1910. I met her walking down the landing stage and entered into conversa-' tion with her. I saw she had some money in her hand, so I enticed her out into a boat. I then strangled her, took £10 from her, and threw her overboard into the river." The man's /name is James Wilson, a labourer, and when charged with the murder on his own confession he made no reply. He was remanded for inquiries to be made.
