RIVERS RISING FAST

NAPIER, May 18,

Exceptionally heavy rain has been falling almost continuously for 24 hours, and fears of a flood are entertained. Ihe low-lying parts of the district are already under water, and rivers are reported to be rising fast. Some of the town streets are a sea of water The Central River Board, constituted under an Act passed last session, was elected yesterday, and it looks as it it will soon have an object lesson of need for united action.
