The barmaids of the Christchurch district are not applying in any great numbers for registration at the office ot the Labour Department. So far not more than halt ot those employed in the district have made application for registration. The time for receiving applications expires on June 1, and after that date those barmaids whose applications have not been granted will not be employed. As the particulars contained in the application torms regarding employment often extend to districts in other places, they require verification, and sometime is taken up in going into the matter.
