A SELLER OF LAMPS.
[To the Editor.]
Sir —I desire to warn the residents of Paeroa and surrounding districts against the plausible, statements of a wandering pedlar who is about selling lamps. To my sorrow I was persuaded by this "Aladdin" to invest in one of "the latest inventions in lamps," as he
terms it, and as a consequence my house was in clanger of being burnt this even-
ing owing to the erratic behaviour of the article which was to be " such a comfort" and "such a saving in kerosene." To save the house I had to
throw the lamp into the garden. This might be unworthy of remark, but as my neighbour, Mr Littlejohn, had to do the same with another lamp of the same, kind a few days ago, and as another friend showed me the remains of his lamp on Sunday, I take it upon myself vo warn my friends and the general public against the purchase of worthless arid dangerous articles. Buy your lamps from reliable firms and don't be misled by " oily" humbugs who are here to-day and away to-morrow.—l etc., E. J. Walters. Hikutaia, ioth May, 19 11.
