THE HAURAKI PLAINS.
PAEROA-TAHUNA ROAD
The engineer to the Ohinemuri County Council (Mr C. Bray) left Paeroa to-day for Tahuna and Kaihere to layout the work under the Government
grants and " thirds." Mr Bray expects that the work will take him -about ten days. Owing to the rapid development of this part of the County, a great amount of extra work has been thrown on the officers of the County. This should illustrate to our townspeople the extent and importance of the County in which we reside, and also the great advantage it would be to have direct road connection between I Jaeroa and Tahuna. At present to get to Tahuna it'necessitates a journey via Mornnsville. It good road communication were
opened, the distance from Paeroa to Tahuna would be about the same as from Morrinsville to Tahuna, and thus save
the journey between Paeroa and Morrinsville. The country 1 between Paeroa and Tahuna- is one that is going to be heard of in the near future, and steps should be taken to have the large tracts of Native land opened for settlement. An effort should be made by the .towns-
people of Paeroa to attract the trade of the upper reaches of a portion ot the Hauraki Plains, and the first step would be to,endeavour to have road coramuni-
cation opened at once,
