BITTER PIT IN APPLES.

DISCOVERY OF THE CAUSE

A SAVING OF MILLIONS

.[By Electric Telegraph.]

Melbourne, May 10,

Dr Jean ycWhite and Professor Ewart, of Melbourne University, believe that

they have discovered the cause of bitter

pit in apples. Their theory is that it is the result of a certain spray used to destroy codlin moth. Scientists are cautious, but sufficient reliance is placed on the discovery to justify a postponement of the Federal and State investigation,

on which it was intended to expend ,£IO,OOO. The prevention of bitter pit will mean the saving of millons to apple growers.
