PETITION FROM RATE-
PAYERS
* 'Ratepayers 6t': Flora Street, Paeroa, petitioned the Ohinemuri County Council as follows, and the matter came up for consideration at Thursday's meeting of that body :— •' We, the undersigned ratepayer^ 6t Flora Street, Paeroa, beg to respectfully draw your attention to the condition of this road and footpaths, which are already getting very muddy, and if something is not soon done it will be worse than it was last winter, when it was almost impossible to get out or in.' The footpath portion of this street has never had either sand or gravel
since it was formed two years ago, and with a week's rain it is a positive mirel"
A letter on the same snbject was also received from Mr G. E. Allen.
Mr Nathan moved that the engineer
report on'the matter, and this was seconded by Mr Franklin.
In reply to a question, the engineer said it Would cost from to ,£6O to do the necessary work on the road and footpath. , Mr Crosby moved, as an amendment, that the work be done before the winter came on. It was only the footpath that was wanted now. This was seconded by Mr Laughlin. Mr Nathan desired to withdraw his motion, but his seconder objected. Ultimately it was decided to repair the footpath at a cost of ,£B,
