ARREST OF TAHI POROWINI

Kawakawa, April 20,
Tahi Porowini, aged nineteen years, was arrested at Kaikohe yesterday, in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a gumdigger at Puhipuhi about two weeks ago, of whom so far search parties have not found traces. Lately Tahi Porowini had been flush ot money, and has made statements that have led to his arrest.
Whangarei, April 20.
Detectives Scott and Cullen arrived
this morning to investigate the disappearance of John Freeman. A message was received this morning trom Sergeant Moore that the prisoner Tahi will be intercepted at Whakapara when the
morning train arrives from Kawakawa. It is stated that the police have reliable information as to the whereabouts of the body. Detective Self went north by a coal special train at 10 a.m. The prisoner is not expected to arrive at Whangarei till Friday morning.
