MALAYAN CAMPAIGN
PUBLICATION OF DESPATCHES COMMANDER RENEWS APPEAL Rec. 11.45 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 9. Another appeal for the publication of his Malayan despatches was made <• by Lieutenant-general A. E. Percival at a London dinner last night of several hundred officers who served in the Malayan campaign. Lieutenant-general Percival said he did not blame the War Office, but he hoped that in fairness to the brave men who fought there the Government would now release the story. According to the Daily Mail, Lieu-tenant-general Percival’s story is likely to appear within the next week or so. The Daily Mail says the War Office has all along favoured the immediate publication, but it was taken out of its hands. The new War Minister, Mr Emanuel Shinwell, has now interested himself in it, says the Daily Mail.
