PETROL SAVING
Sir, —Could you give me some information on petrol sales on Saturdays? I went to Hawea Flat on November 28, together with my wife and son, to buy a car. The deal was completed on the Saturday morning, but when I went to the petrol station I was informed that I was not entitled to petrol to travel to Benhar. Does this not come under the heading of " distance travel ” mentioned in an article in the Daily Times of November 28?—I am, etc.. A. D. M. [When this letter was refered to an official of the Transport Department the Daily Times was informed that the wording of the regulations governing petrol sales makes it clear that a motorist must have travelled at least 100 miles on a Saturday or Sunday to entitle him to purchase petrol on those days. As the correspondent had travelled to Hawea Flat on a Friday it rested with him to secure petrol on that day for his return trip.—Ed. O.D.T.]
