The taxi, a flve-seater sedan from Balclutha, was being driven by William Anderson, a married man, from Roxburgh to Lawrence when it stalled on a hill. It ran back on the road and - over a bank into a gully on the Roxburgh side of Beaumont Hill. The car came to rest on its side in an old creek bed above a narrow stream after rolling over. The body work of the car was damaged. The passengers were Royce Reynolds, Warren Thomas, Edward de Largey, and Stewart Somerville, all single men, and all Balclutha residents. A passing car driven by Mr John Carson, of Evans Flat, picked up the five men and took them to Balclutha, where they were given medical attention by Dr. W. L. Dodds and were able to .proceed to their homes. The taxi was still in the gully yesterday, but it »will not be difficult to recover.
