For country institutions preference given to single men capable of supervising farm work and outside work generally. Commencing salary, £350 p.a., rising to £390 p.a. with good opportunities for promotion to higher ranks at salaries ranging from £4lO p.a. to £685 p.a. Free uniform clothing and boots provided. Free rations and an extra allowance of £ls p.a. granted to single officers at prison farm camps. Married officers who are not provided with a departmental cottage receive an additional allowance of £65 p.a. Prison officers work a 40-hour week and are paid at overtime rates for duty performed over 40 hours per week. Liberal leave privileges.
