Special to the Daily Times RANFURLY, Dec. 7. Showery weather on Saturday in the Maniototo district interrupted the majority of sports fixtures, and in some cases caused matches to be abandoned. Cricket In the three matches decided in the cricket competition, outright wins were recorded by Patearoa A, Naseby and Becks. The top-scorer for the day was D. J. Blakely with 97 runs to his credit. Patearoa A 220 (D. J. Blakely 97. E. Carr 23, R. Carr 51, retired; W. McAtamney took six wickets) beat Patearoa B, 140 (McAtamney 39, Beattie. 22; D. J. Elakely took four wickets and J. W. Blakely three). Naseby 123 (Smith 46, Lobb 30; Doug Provan six for 56) beat Ranfurly B 113 (Bleach 44, Lynch 39: Lobb seven for 23). Becks 129 for seven wickets (W. Harley 50; J. Mulholland four for 36) beat Ranfurly A 76 (J. P. Kearney' 25; D. Jones five for 15. W. Harley three for 11). Bowling Results of the bowling matches which were completed were:—Turnbull (Middlemarch) 12, Templeton (Ranfurly) 33; Murphy (Middlemarch) 23, Hanrahan (Ranfurly) 18; Murray (Middlemarch) 21. Harroway (Ranfurly) 18. Lawn Tennis Not all the tennis matches were finished because of the rain A decision was. however, reached in these games:— A Grade.—Ranfurly (8 sets, 81 games), Patearoa (4 sets, 62 games). This was also a challenge match for the Kennedy Cook Cup, but Ranfurly by its win maintained its hold on the trophy. B Grade.—Hyde (10 sets, 89 games), Kokonga (3 sets, 54 games); Waipiata (9 sets, 81 games), Kyeburn (5 sets. 73 games). Players have been selected to represent Maniototo South End against Maniototo North End in a match at Ranfurly next Saturday as follows.—Mesdames Matthewson, Patchett, O’Gorman, Mathias, Miss Keegan, Mrs Blakely.
