CHAMPIONSHIP TO W. ELLIOTT

There were 45 entries for the Dunedin Gun Club’s championship match which was held on the club’s grounds at Green Island on Saturday afternoon under fair weather conditions. There was no wind, but the light was poor. In the A Grade section, 20 targets were shot at off the 16-yard mark, and W Elliott, J. T. Callaghan, W. Telford, J. Stoddart, G. ,E. Turner, H. W. Brookes and J. K. Geddes, who all broke 19 targets, shot off for the cup. After a further five targets had been shot at, W. Elliott, W. Telford and J. T Callaghan were still in, but Telford and Callaghan both missed their next target, while W. Elliott broke his and won the cup. Other good scores were: E. P. Graham and H. T. Weir 18 breaks, A. Callaghan, T. Gillespie, D. Campbell and J. Stiven 17 breaks, J. A. Orlowski and W. Throp 16 breaks. The match for the B Grade Championship was 20 targets off 14 yards, and was won by T. Daly with 16 breaks H. E. McArthur was runner-up with 15 breaks. Other scores were: R. Mason 14, W. C. Geddes and R. Walker 13, N. McFadyen,- F. Youngman. A. L. Begg and W. Jenkins 12. The shooting concluded, with a first-miss-out match (off handicap marks) which was won by W. Throp with 12 breaks, J. Stoddart was second with 11, and G. E. Turner third with 10. Mr R. L. Begg was the referee.
