OBITUARY

MR R. A. WRIGHT P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr Robert Alexander Wright, formerly Mayor of Wellington, and a former Minister of Education. Mr Wright, who was formerly a

printer and publisher at Wellington, was member of Parliament for Wellington South from 1908 to 1911, and for Wellington Suburbs from 1914 to 1938. He was Minister of Education from 1926 to 1928.

Mr Wright was a member of the Wellington Licensing Committee from 1899 to 1905, and had a seat on the Wellington Harbour Board from 1913 to 1921. During this period he was also a member of the Wellington City Council, and from 1921 to 1925 he was Mayor of the city. From 1929 to 1941 he was again returned as a councillor.
