FIRE THREAT

PETROL STORAGE TANKS

PARAPARAUMU AIRPORT P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 6. A serious threat to the extensive underground petrol installations at Paraparaumu Aerodrome arose to-day when a petrol tanker which, it is believed, was refuelling the underground installations, caught fire. The driver and another man in the tanker were seriously burned and were taken to the Wellington Hospital. The tanker is believed to have been virtually destroyed and severe damage was suffered by a small tanker and a motor car nearby. The building used for housing the petrol equipment was also damaged, but at no time were any aircraft or the administration buildings in danger as the installations are removed from the main buildings. First on the job was the station'fire tender.
