TROTTING NOTES

Jottings r Nominations for the Gore meeting are due to-day. Broke Each Time Lady Diane went away in a break in both her starts at the Wellington meeting, giving her supporters a very pooi run for their money. This fault has been apparent in most of her races this term, and the U. Scott mare looks like taking some time to recover the good form shown earlier in her career. No Improvement Wade Lane won twice at Forbury Park and once at Addington last season, but since his success on the latter course last January, the Rey de Oro gelding has failed repeatedly. A transfer from W. R. Butt’s stable to that of G. „S. Smith does not seem to have had the required effect, as he raced very badly at Hutt Park. Showed Speed Loyal Guest showed'sufficient speed in her race on the final day at Hutt Park to be kept in mind for an early success in the novice class. Trained by L. O Thomas at Addington, she is a five-year-old by Grattan Loyal from Tondeleyo, by Wrack from the American-bred Estella Amos. A full-sister to the great Indianapolis, Tondeleyo earlier produced a useful pacer in Margaret Hall. World’s Record Knight Dream established a world’s record for two-year-olds regardless of sex when he won the second heat of the Two-vear-old Pace in 2min 0 2-ssec at Lexingrecord of 2min OJsec was established three years earlier by Jimmy Creed when he won the same event. A coll, Knight Dream is bred to be a champion. His sire, Nibble Hanover, lmin 583 sec, holds the world’s race record for trotting stallions. His dam, Lydia Knight, 2min filsec trotting, 2min 3sec pacing, was formerly the world’s record double-gaited mare. A Peter the Brewer mare, Lydia Knight at one time held the world’s record for three-year-old pacing fillies over a half-mile track of 2min sjsec.
