POLICY FOR SCHOOLS
MESSAGE TO MINISTER As the outcome of a meeting of local members of the Otago Education Board yesterday morning, a telegram was sent by the chairman, Mr J. JL. Fraser, to the Minister of Education, Mr McCombs, informing him that a certain section of local opinion favours the immediate closing of schools as a precaution against the spread of infantile paralysis. The telegram suggested that the Minister should confer with the Minister of Health, . Miss Howard, with a view to determining a policy for the closing of schools in the South Island. No reply had been received from the Minister at a late hour last night.
