Ministerial The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Cullen, will visit Invercargill on Tuesday next to perform the opening ceremony at the Southland summer show. Mr Cullen may visit Dunedin before returning north. Mr Avia M. Warren, who at present holds the position of Minister to New Zealand, has been nominated to be Minister to Finland by President Truman, states a Washington message. On the occasion of his approaching marriage, Mr C. Sell, the Otago champion swimmer, was met by his fellow-members of the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club and presented with an electric toaster, various speakers referring to his good work for swimming over a long period of years and conveying best wishes for the future. Mr David Leslie, one of the oldest practising accountants in Dunedin, will retire at the end of the month. Mr Leslie, who is well-known in business circles in the .city, has been secretary of the Dominion Building Society and the New Zealand ' Mortgage'Trust since their inception. He is also a well-known member of the Balmacevven Bowling Club and has held practically every office in that club. Colonel George Marshall, who was recently app&inted as second in command of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will arrive bv the express from the north this afternoon, accompanied by his wife. They have had long vears of experience in the United States, and after conducting a series of meetings in Dunedin, they will leave for Oamaru on Tuesday morning. The divisional commander. Major A. Chandler, will accompany the visitors.
