CATHEDRAL RECITAL

EMINENT ENGLISH PIANIST Dr Thomas Fielden, the eminent pianist and teacher who is conducting examinations in Dunedin for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, will give a pianoforte recital in St. Paul’s Cathedral to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock. Dr Fielden has had a distinguished career both as a solo pianist and educationist. He has given recitals in many parts of the world, and during his visit to New Zealand has broadcast in each of the main centres. Until last year he held the post of director of music at Charterhouse, one of England’s most famous public schools, and he has been on the staff of the Royal College of music as a teacher of pianoforte for many years. -He is the author of " The Science of Pianoforte Technique,” a standard treatise on the subject. Sonata in C minor (Op. Ill), and it is Sonatea in C minor (Op. Ill), and it is expected that music lovers will welcome the opportunity of hearing this, one of the most profound of all that great master’s compositions in the ideal atmosphere of the Cathedral, played by an experienced and scholarly pianist.
