BALCLUTHA STOCK SALE
METROPOLITAN VALUES FOR FAT SHEEP At the Balclutha stock sale, held yesterday, a medium yarding of 150 fat sheep was sold at prices reflecting those of recent metropolitan markets. The store sheep forward consisted mainly of wethers, which sold readily. A large yarding of over 300 store cattle was of mixed quality, with a few pens showing breeding. The sale was slightly in the buyers’ favour, but good values were realised. Prices were:— Fat Sheep.—Best shorn wethers, 49s 6d to 525; young ewes, 41s Gd to 475; best aged ewes. 32s to 36s Gd; light. 22s Gd to 275. „ , Store Sheep.—Best shorn wethers. 42s 8d to 45s 6d; medium. 31s Gd to 375. Store Cattle.—Three-year-old steers, £ls 5s to £l7: two-year-old steers, £l2 10s to £ls; yearling steers, extra good, to £ll 7s 6d; medium, £7 10s to £9 ss; three-year-old heifers, £ll 10s to £l4; two-year-old heifers, £7 10s to £9 10s: yearling heifers, £5 to £8 5s-
