NOVEL PROPOSAL
CHRISTMAS RATION-SCHEME COLLECTION OF COUPONS BY CHURCHES Special to the Daily Times , . ALEXANDRA, Dec. 4. A practical way of solving the Christmas ration question that has been troubling the minds of many people lately was launched by the presbytery of Central Otago to-day, when it decided to appeal to all church people within the Central Otago area not to use their extra butter ration coupons, but to hand them into the churches. They would then be used to buy butter to send as a free gift to needy persons in Britain. The Rev. G. Dallard, outlining the scheme, stated that the Rotary Club of Alexandra would be willing to purchase butter for all coupons surrendered and send direct to Britain as a free gift to be distributed where the need was most urgent. The churches could do an important work in collecting Christmas ration coupons, ,he said, and he hoped that the people throughout Central Otago would give the scheme their full support. By this means those surrendering coupons would*know that butter would be sent without cost to those in need in the Homeland.
