A strike of radio operators of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., was announced late to-night by the general manager of the company, Mr G. N. Roberts. He said that as a result there would be no flights from Auckland to-Sydney to-mor-row. “Negotiations between the union representatives and the company have been proceeding for some months, but late to-night a complete deadlock was reached, resulting in the operators refusing to ‘ man the boats to-morrow,” he said. “The dispute has been referred to the Labour Department,” The dispute concerns wages and conditions of air-crew radio operators employed by Tasman Airways, and also by the National Airways Corporation on overseas routes, and all external air services will be suspended until a settlement is reached.
