CRICKET NOTES

Outright wins were gained by Waitaki against Albion and Oamaru A against Kurow, while Union won the first innings against Oamaru B in the third round of the senior cricket competition. On the first day Waitaki made 250 runs, and last Saturday made 43 runs for two wickets. Albion was dismissed for 129 runs. In the second innings Albion made 157 runs, McCone 43, Taylor 27 and May 26 not out being the principal scorers. Kurow, on the first day, made 195 and last Saturday compiled 64. Carleton (16) and Glover (16 not out) were the only two to reach double figures. Bowling for Oamaru, S. Dick performed the “ hat trick ” in his sixth over and took four wickets for an average of 5.5 runs. Oamaru continued its first innings on Saturday, and J Watson added 13 to his first day’s score to take his total to 53. Oamaru were all out for 134 runs. In the second innings they obtained the required runs for the loss of four wickets. Of the 129 runs, Hall batted well for 73 not out, S. Dick made 29, and J. Watson 17. Union lost one wicket for 63 runs on the first day, and declared with 198 runs tor seven wickets last Saturday. Maddigan played vigorously for 74 not out. In the second innings Union had lost two wickets for 55 runs at stumps. Oamaru on the first day made 194, and in the second innings declared at 86 for five wickets. Oamaru were unable to dismiss the Union batsmen before stumps and suffered a first innings defeat. Championship Points
