TRANSPORT APPEAL ALLOWED

In allowing an appeal by R. A. Henman, of Dunedin, against the decision of the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority, for an additional vehicle authority, Judge Archer, the Transport Appeal Authority, said that the applicant was entitled to an additional licence to enable him to undertake the increasing timber cartage of the Southland Sawmilling Company, Ltd. “He is entitled to work for such customers of the company as desire to engage his services,” said the judge. “It would not be proper, however, in my opinion, for the Southland Sawmilling Company to seek to influence its customers to avail themselves of the appellant’s services in preference to other carriers, and I place on record that I have the assurance of Mr Henman and his counsel that no such practice has been followed in the past, or will be followed by the company in the future.”
