PRIVATE VISIT TO DOMINION P.A. AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. Queen Salote, the ruling monarch of the independent Pacific kingdom of Tonga, arrived to-day in the steamer Matua from Nukualofa. Queen Salote, who is on a private unofficial visit, did

not grant any interviews. She was met by Commander P. Phipps, D.S.C., R.N.Z.N., aide-de-camp to the Gov-ernor-General, and by the New Zealand agent for the Tongan Government, Mr W. A. Boucher. With the Queen was the Governor of Vavau, Mr Aulukali, and the lady-in-waiting, Miss T. Vi.
